East West Rail unveils new route options and stations

East West Rail (EWR) has unveiled five possible new routes for the next phase of the rail project linking Oxford and Cambridge. A public consultation has been launched to gather feedback on the five different route alignments and six proposed stations that will cover the Clapham Green to The Everdens section of the new railway. EWR’s two preferred options share a ‘travel corridor’ with the proposed A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet Improvement scheme and have the greatest potential for new homes. The sections are also expected to cost less to build than other options. The consultation will also consider how the project can improve Oxford Station and options for new stations at Bedford and Bedford Saint Johns. Alongside route options and new transport infrastructure, EWR is seeking ideas on how to ensure that communities around Bletchley and Marston Vale line get the most out of the new project.

Frigid temperatures welcomed for Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Leeds and Grenville

BROCKVILLE, ONT. A cross-country fundraising event helping to raise money for homeless youth is well underway, with the frigid weather acting as a perfect backdrop. The event, appropriately called Coldest Night of the Year , is designed to get people outside and moving, and raise awareness about youth homelessness in Canada. In Leeds and Grenville, the funds are coming back to Connect Youth Inc. and its youth housing program, which provides support to homeless and at-risk youth in the county ages 16 to 24. It is very cold but you know it totally aligns with what this event is about, said Robyn Holmes, executive director at Connect Youth Inc.
