Mom, Grandma, ANITA MARIA SANCHEZ, passed away peacefully at the beautiful age of 98 on March 30, 2021. Anita was a wonderful, strong, determined, caring, and independent woman. A woman with a strong faith in God, Anita is now in peace in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and suffers no longer. We will miss her every day, but Anita’s love of life did not come to an end with her death. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by those who loved her. The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Anita. She loved creating and sharing delicious meals for her family. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her loved ones. Anita’s children and grandchildren were her heart and joy. Family meant everything to her. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and dancing. Anita also served as a member of the American Legion for many years. Anita was one of the several children born to Rubel and Euchridis Martinez. She has many relatives in the Chamisal, Rodarte, Dixon, and Santa Fe
Last night, my wife and I watched another episode of the BBC television show,
Call the Midwife. In this segment, the doctor had to be away from the office because of an emergency, and his wife, who functioned as the receptionist, was running the clinic. When the patients realized the doctor was gone, they refused to let her help them because they were totally unaware that she had worked as a nurse for ten years. In their eyes, she was only a receptionist and they bolted for the door until a doctor or nurse was there. The next morning, the receptionist was dressed in a nurse uniform, and when she opened the door to let the clients in, they saw her as a professional medical caregiver, and accepted her expertise. Even though she was the same person, respect came with the right uniform.

Veneremur Cernui – Down in Adoration Falling, Bishop Thomas Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix recommends to the faithful daily Mass and more frequent Eucharistic adoration, and asks priests to lead an annual Eucharistic procession in their parishes. The bishop’s letter, promulgated on April 1, 2021, explains that the Church “requires Catholic leaders who have publicly supported gravely immoral laws such as abortion and euthanasia to refrain from receiving Holy Communion until they publicly repent and receive the Sacrament of Penance.”

In May 2005, Prince Philip stood before the Sunday congregation in the tiny St. Mary and St. George Anglican church in Jasper, Alberta, and read a passage from 2 Corinthians. Sitting in the pews, two rows back from Queen Elizabeth II, was William Thompson, from Grande Cache, Alta., who had arranged the flowers adorning the church.
“The most impressive memory I have is when he did one of the Bible readings. It was like, that’s my monarch’s husband, reading it,” Thompson remembered. “I felt very humble to be a part of that that day.”
