Cross Words: Chosen by God in Christ
By Isaiah Pauley
I recently began a series through the Book of Ephesians called “Family of God.” For the next several weeks, I want us to see a community that finds common ground in belonging to God and what it means to walk worthily as a member of that family.
In verses 1 and 2 of Ephesians 1, Paul greets the believers. Then, he gets a little long-winded. Indeed, verses 3 through 14 is a single sentence in Greek. So, I’m going to break this sentence down into three parts.
Let’s start with verses 3 through 6. We’ll look at the other verses in the coming weeks.
“We encourage One Mind One Strength and No Division.”
I liked it better in the original German.

Always nice to hear from the Confederate Counties of Illinois.
So much random capitalization–it’s like reading Winnie the Pooh. About the same elementary school grade level rhetoric, too.

wow, just wow.
Guess the 60 some losing lawsuits don’t mean anything to them.

It’s no longer a party, it’s a cult.

"The story begins because someone had a broken heart and knew he needed help. How did he know? He couldn’t see inside his body. He didn’t know he was in trouble. He felt the pain. It was his pain that saved his life. What if someone had convinced this young man that nobody cared about his pain?"

TOPICS: . . . We are involved in this war .That s not an option. The only decision you can make is whether you ll be part of the kingdom of God or not.. If you re part of the kingdom of God, you are at war with the kingdom of Satan. That s not something you can decide. You had better get equipped and learn how to fight, because if you don t you re going to be a casualty.

How we give and receive rebuke reveals more about us than we might first realize. When was the last time someone rebuked you, and how did you respond? When was the last time you needed to rebuke someone? How did you respond?
When someone confronts us about a sin he sees in us, some of us get defensive and fire back. Others cower, withdraw, and crumble in self-pity. Still others, however, have learned to receive good rebuke for what it is:
love. They know the secret others fail to grasp:
Hard words are instrumental, indispensable, and precious along the path to godliness.
