The essence of this is, Jesus chose the cross, he had several opportunities to turn away from the cross, he could have chosen the ways of Satan and evil men and been spared the anguish and pain of his horrific physical death, but it would have meant the death of his soul and we wouldn’t have found salvation. Thankfully most of us will never have to make such an obvious choice, our lives aren’t that stark, our choices that obvious.
