‘State government should exert pressure on the Centre to take up the project’
Leaders of the Opposition parties on Saturday resolved to step up agitation to press for a ₹25,000 crore public sector port at Ramayapatnam to spur economic growth in the backward district of Prakasam.
After Union Minister for ports Mansukh Mandaviya, in a reply to a question in the Parliament, expressed inability to fund a non-major port(NMP) at Ramayapatnam, leaders at a roundtable convened by Prakasam District Development Forum(PDDF) president Ch. Ranga Rao exhorted the YSR Congress Party government to exert pressure on the Central government to take up the port, as is promised in the State Reorganisation Act, in Ramayapatnam in the wake of the latter expressing reservation over taking up the project at Dugar

Visakhapatnam, Mar 05: With an AP Bandh being observed today several organisations have come out in support of the same.
The Andhra Pradesh Bandh today is being observed to protest against the move of the Centre to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). Normal life is likely to be affected due to the AP Bandh today.
FDNA general secretary A Aja Sarma in a statement said that the VSP was contributing to the progress of Andhra Pradesh, especially north Andhra. He also said that the local BJP leaders who camped in Delhi with the promise of convincing the Centre to change its mind is now singing a different tune.

New Delhi [India], February 27 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did have time to meet farmers protesting on the Delhi borders while Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were supporting them.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Sake Sailajanath and other party leaders said this at the APCC Kisan Sammelan in support of farmers protesting against the three farm laws made by the NDA-led central government.
Congress leaders said at the meeting that it was the Congress that had brought the Food Security Act while the Modi government’s “anti-farm laws claimed the lives of 200 farmers.”
