The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) has approved a 2021 budget increase of 1.97 per cent, or $405,000 to its more than $76-million budget.

“Two drivers are the cause of this,” DNSSAB chairman Mark King said. “The province changed the funding envelopes for child services and we’ll need some extra money to start moving toward self-administration of our emergency medical services.”
King said he would have liked to see a zero per cent increase, but “I don’t see that happening given the fact DNSSAB runs the social services system.”
