UC Davis Chancellor Gary May will deliver the opening remarks. UCD scientists Richard Michelmore, Nam Tram and Heather Bischel will explain the UCD COVID tests and answer questions, said UCD distinguished professor Walter Leal, who is organizing and moderating the symposium.

COVID-19 testing at the ARC to close during winter break UCD students and employees will get tested at community sites The COVID-19 testing center in the UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1, with the exception of a half-day, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, the UC Davis news service announced this week. UC Davis students and employees have been tested weekly at the ARC since November. With testing now available to all students and employees, and required for anyone entering campus facilities, more than 13,000 tests were conducted at the site last week.

By offering free, saliva-based testing with results arriving within 24 hours in many cases the city and university hope to minimize spread of the virus here. But the partnership is focusing not just on saving lives and keeping the community healthy. It’s now aimed at keeping local businesses healthy as well.
