HANOI, May 29 Vietnam has discovered a new Covid-19 variant which spreads quickly by air and is a combination of the Indian and British strains, state media reported today. The country is struggling to deal with fresh outbreaks across more than half of its territory including industrial zones.

VOV.VN - Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on May 25 welcomed the arrival of an additional 288,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

This is the second batch ordered by the MoH via the Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) and the fourth delivery to the country.
The vaccine was immediately transferred to cold storage facilities before being granted customs clearance on the morning of May 26.
At present, a total of four batches of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been delivered to Vietnam, totaling approximately 2.9 million doses, including 117,600 and 288,000 doses purchased in February and May.
