Corona vaccination dry run at 263 places in Karnataka on Jan 8

Bengaluru, Jan 7 (IANS): Karnataka will conduct a Covid-19 vaccination dry run at 263 different places on Friday. This is part of the national programme to train and equip healthcare professionals to carry out the immunisation process whenever the vaccine is rolled out, Health Minister K. Sudhakar said on Thursday.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday chaired a meeting via video conference with the health ministers of states and union territories, a day before the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination dry run.
After attending the meeting, Sudhakar said: Vaccination should be a public movement with public participation. A detailed discussion was carried out with the central government regarding the preparation and distribution of Covid vaccine.

Flight no AI-850 from Pune to Delhi will carry the first the consignment of the vaccines to the national capital, an official said.

The first consignment of Covid-19 vaccine Covishield will land in Delhi at 9pm on Thursday. This comes a day ahead of second nationwide mock drill on the coronavirus vaccination scheduled to be held on January 8.

The government on Thursday said that its Covid-19 vaccination online portal Co-WIN has already registered over 78 lakh beneficiaries.
Short for Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network, the CoWIN app is a repurposed from the e-VIN platform that will provide real-time information of vaccine stocks, their storage temperature and individualized tracking of beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccine.

New Delhi, Jan 7 : The much-anticipated inoculation programme against Covid-19 in the country is expected to begin by January 12, government sources told IANS. In all likelihood, the Covid immunisation drive is expected to start early next week. Considering the preparations, the roll-out may start on January 11 or latest by January 12, a senior government official inducted in the vaccine distribution programme said.
The sources also informed that the government has started preparing the freight carrying the vaccine vials for transportation to different hubs located across the country. The agencies involved in the vaccine roll-out programme will start dispatching the vaccine vials from Thursday onwards, they added.
