Situation in Capital worrisome as the positivity rate in the past 24 hours has reached 30% from 24.56% the previous day, he says
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that the COVID-19 situation in Delhi was worrisome as the positivity rate in the past 24 hours had reached 30% from 24.56% the previous day and that there was a shortage of ICU beds and oxygen.
In a digital address, he said that there were less than 100 ICU beds left in Delhi and there was a shortage of oxygen. “We have asked the Central government for help and we are receiving it as well. I have spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan about the need for more beds in Central government hospitals and oxygen for COVID-19 patients” Mr. Kejriwal said.

New Delhi, Apr 18 (EFE).- India recorded on Sunday a new daily record of 261,500 coronavirus cases and 1,501 deaths, while several of the worst-affected states have warned of the healthcare system collapsing due to the increased pressure.
The South Asian country has been facing a second wave of Covid-19 infections, and has already recorded a total 14.7 million cases since the onset of the pandemic, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.
India, the second most infected country in the world after the US (32 million cases), crossed 200,000 daily cases for the fourth successive day with no signs of the infection curve flattening.

The government is trying to double the production of Remdesivir injection, used in the treatment of Covid-19 infected patients, in the next 15 days, Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, said on Sunday. The announcement follows a decision by seven pharmaceutical companies in India to reduce the price of the lifesaving drug by 25-70 per cent. Sharing a video message on Twitter, Mandaviya said, “Government is trying to ramp up the production of lifesaving Remdesivir injection in the country and to make it more affordable. Production will be doubled to 3 lakh vials from the current production of 1.5 lakh vials each day.”
