Quebec’s business site vaccination program kicked off Monday with the first inoculation administered at the head office of CAE in St-Laurent.

The government has said it intends to establish 20 to 50 business vaccination sites in the province between May and June.
Hélène V. Gagnon, CAE’s vice-president of public affairs, said Monday’s operation began with vaccine doses produced by AstraZeneca.
“Appointments are open for those admissible among the employees of CAE, their families as well employees and families with businesses that are partners in our centre,” she said.

On March 1, U.S. public health authorities learned of a COVID-19 outbreak at a Kentucky long-term care centre where most of the residents had been fully vaccinated. In total, 26 residents were infected and 20 health workers.
Among the infected residents, 18 had received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Most who tested positive did not develop symptoms, but one of the vaccinated residents died. Of the 20 workers, four had been vaccinated.

“Although COVID-19 mRNA vaccines (like the Pfizer one) demonstrated high efficacy in clinical trials, they were not 100 per cent efficacious,” concludes the study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Thus, some infections post-vaccination are expected.”

Montrealers will no longer be able to get an AstraZeneca vaccine at a walk-in clinic in Montreal, the city’s public health department announced on Friday.
All the doses allocated for the walk-in portion of the effort have been used up. A few doses remain for people who made an appointment to receive the shot in the coming days.

“The six health and social services establishments in the Montreal region participating in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign are joining together to highlight the overwhelming success of the walk-in operation that began last Wednesday,” the public health department said in a news release.
