Spain will set up a registry of people
who refuse to be vaccinated against the new coronavirus and share it with other
European Union member states, although it will not be made public, Health
Minister Salvador Illa said.
During an interview with La Sexta
television, Illa reiterated that vaccination against the virus â which as in
most EU nations began in Spain over the weekend â would not be mandatory.
âWhat will be done is a registry,
which will be shared with our European partners⦠of those people who have been
offered it and have simply rejected it,â he said.

Pfizer has postponed the delivery of new batches of its coronavirus vaccine to eight European nations including Spain, the Spanish health ministry said Monday, a day after the EU began its immunisation campaign.
The Spanish branch of Pfizer informed Madrid on Sunday night of the delay in shipments to the eight nations due to a “problem in the loading and shipment process” at its plant in Belgium, the health ministry said in a statement.
It did not specify which European nations aside from Spain were affected.
Pfizer has informed the ministry that the problem “was already resolved” but the next delivery of vaccines “will be a few hours late” and arrive in Spain on Tuesday, a day later than expected, the statement said.

Spain is planning to keep a registry of individuals who refuse to be vaccinated and share it with other European Union nations, according to the country s health minister.

According to Health Minister Salvador Illa, the list of those who decline to receive the vaccine would remain to uphold data protection laws and would not be made accessible to the employers or the public.
Spain would develop a register of such people as part of European efforts to contravene public resistance to the new doses.
The register would be shared with other European partners, but it would not be made public, according to Illa in an interview, reported The Peninsula.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn has indicated that private businesses may be able to ban customers who haven t been vaccinated.
Speaking with tabloid Bild on Wednesday, Mr Spahn appeared to walk back earlier comments stating that those who had been vaccinated would not receive special privileges.
He said on Wednesday that while public institutions like hospitals, town halls or public transport would not be legally allowed to refuse those who have not been vaccinated, such distinctions could be legal in the private sector.
Mr Spahn said he believed that “it would be possible” under German law for a pizzeria to serve only vaccinated people.
