Mumbai: As panic started building up among people with several districts, cities and towns of Maharashtra coming under degrees of restrictions, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government on Monday appealed to the citizens to take precautions and help avoid a fresh lockdown.
A day after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray served an ultimatum of 8-10 days to the people, Health Minister Rajesh Tope urged people to understand and cooperate with the government since the state could not afford another lockdown.

Mumbai: Panic gripped Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra once again as over 6000 fresh cases of Coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours Friday.
According to the state Health Department, Maharashtra on Friday reported 6,112 new cases of coronavirus along with 44 more Covid-related deaths.
Meanwhile, as many as 2,159 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the infection.
With the latest spike in new Covid cases, Maharashtra crossed its 75-day record. The state had last reported more than 6,000 cases in a single day on October 30 of last year. Mumbai accounted for 823 of these new cases while Pune accounted for 1,015.
The number of daily Covid-19 cases in India rose to 14,059 on Friday, the highest in last 27 days. It crossed the 14,000 mark for the first time since January 23.

Owing to the rapid growth in coronavirus cases in Yavatmal and
Amravati, authorities have decided to implement a strict
lockdown to bring the situation under control. While the administration has announced a weekend lockdown in Amravati, Yavatmal will be witnessing stricter lockdown of 10 days starting from Thursday night.
Yavatmal has witnessed a spike in positive cases since February 1. Reportedly, Yavatmal Collector MD Singh said that the authority has decided to conduct around 500 tests per day in Yavatmal, Pandharkawada and Pusad municipal corporations.
