Congress MP Rajeev Satav loses battle to Covid

Pune, May 16 : Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra, Rajiv Satav, passed away in a hospital here after a 23-day long battle with Covid-19, party officials said here on Sunday.
He was 46, and belonged to the core team of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Satav had developed Covid symptoms on April 19 and a swab test turned out to be positive on April 21.
He was admitted to the Jehangir Hospital in Pune and as his condition worsened, a week later he was put on a ventilator.

May 14 : Recently, the Maharashtra government has suspended COVID-19 vaccination for people in the age group of 18-44 due to shortage of vaccines, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed. The state government will now divert about 3 lakh vaccines meant for the 18-44 age group for people aged 45 years and above.
This decision of the Maharashtra government has upset the cine workers of Bollywood as 60 per cent of the workforce falls in this age bracket. Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president, Ashok Dubey, said that the extension of lockdown in the state has already jeopardised the livelihood of cine workers and now putting a hold on vaccination of young people have made them upset. The workers were planning to get back on the sets after taking two doses of the vaccine.
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today took to twitter to advise people on ways to detect and manage Mucormycosis, commonly known as Black Fungus, which have been reported in a number of patients, especially in Maharashtra.

Pune: Full list of COVID-19 vaccination centres for beneficiaries above 45 years of age on May 15

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Mayor Murlidhar Mohol on Friday evening released a list of vaccination centres for the beneficiaries above 45 years of age on May 15.
Bharat Biotech s (SII) COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin will be available at 15 centres on May 15, Mohol said. Meanwhile, at all these centres, only those citizens who had taken their first dose before April 16 will be administered the second dose, he added. The first dose of the vaccine will not be given, Mohol further said.
