The national conservative Brothers of Italy party (FdI), which is in opposition to the government of Italian prime minister Mario Draghi, have surged in support in a poll.

According to a report from the newspaper Il Giornale, an Agi/Youtrend survey puts the party headed by firebrand Giorgia Meloni at 17.9 per cent, behind the PD, which scored 18.8 per cent. While populist Senator Matteo Salvini’s League continues to top the polls with 22.2 per cent.
Italy to reopen schools, outdoor dining as hundreds die daily of COVID-19
Last Friday, in a press conference with Health Minister Roberto Speranza, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced a significant loosening of lockdown restrictions starting Monday, April 26. The announcement, which comes as hundreds of people continue to die every day of the virus, will ensure a further rise in coronavirus cases and deaths and has been widely denounced by medical professionals and scientists.
All schools are to resume in-person classes beginning next Monday. Restaurants and bars in so-called “yellow zones,” where there is a less rapid spread of the virus, will be permitted to reopen for outdoor dining. Swimming pools and outdoor sports can reopen.

Pregnant women “of any age” in the United Kingdom will be offered either the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines in a new advice published on Friday by UK’s vaccine advisers.
The updated guidance reads: “Although clinical trials on the use of COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy are not advanced, the available data do not indicate any harm to pregnancy. JCVI [The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation] has therefore advised that women who are pregnant should be offered vaccination at the same time as non-pregnant women, based on their age and clinical risk group.”
