New research shows 1 in 3 women unsure whether it is safe to drink alcohol during pregnancy
A new public education campaign launches today to inform the Western Australian community about the risk to babies from alcohol use during pregnancy.
The campaign’s key message of “any amount a mother drinks, the baby drinks” challenges the inaccurate belief that a mother’s placenta protects a developing baby from alcohol.

In the past six months, the stateâs top adviser during the coronavirus pandemic has fronted government press conferences on two occasions, one on September 26 while in Port Hedland responding to an outbreak on an iron ore carrier, and another on November 16, when he sat in the front row as Mr McGowan outlined WA s decision to close its border with South Australia.
Western Australia has recorded three new cases of COVID-19 overnight, all of whom are international travellers currently in hotel quarantine.
There have been no cases of community-acquired coronavirus, marking 266 days in which WA has avoided community transmission.
On Thursday WA reinstated a hard border closure with Victoria, and required Victorians who arrived in the state since December 21 to isolate and get tested.
