Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, this was the Country Director s first visit to the Maldives in his new role. Hadad-Zervos was joined by Chiyo Kanda, the new Country Manager for Maldives and Sri Lanka, based in Colombo.

Dec 13, Colombo: Ministry of Health has decided to establish another 05 advanced technology laboratories to facilitate PCR testing. Dr. Jayasundera Bandara, Director, Sri Lanka COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project has said that steps have been taken to set up five high - tech laboratories where PCR tests can be performed expeditiously to curb the spread of COVID-19 disease. He further said that under this, the necessary equipment systems will be installed at 05 major hospitals in the country to conduct relevant tests. Accordingly, these laboratory facilities will be provided at the Colombo National Hospital, Kalubowila Hospital, Kalutara, Kegalle and Kurunegala Teaching Hospitals, he said.

In addition, two laboratories will be established at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital. One laboratory will be set up at the Kalutara Hospital, Kegalle Hospital, and the Kurunegala Hospital.
