New York scrambles to deflect blame on nursing home deaths undercount Share on Facebook Jazz ShawPosted at 9:02 am on January 29, 2021 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter It’s barely been a day since we learned about the New York Attorney General’s report indicating that the state had undercounted the number of COVID-19 nursing home deaths by as much as 50%. Last night, John dug into the AG’s report to see how the wheels came off of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s disastrous policies so badly and none of the details made the news any less awful. The first question that came to my mind was how Cuomo was going to respond. Was there any way to paint some lipstick on this toxic pig?

How Will AG James s Report Affect Nursing Homes?

PUBLISHED 2:03 PM ET Jan. 29, 2021 PUBLISHED 2:03 PM EST Jan. 29, 2021 SHARE Deaths in nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday said, are in many instances inevitable. Elderly people are vulnerable to the virus as are people who live in group settings.  Cuomo has previously compared COVID in nursing homes to fire racing through dry grass. But advocates and researchers hope Attorney General Letitia James s report will lead to changes in policy and transparency in New York.  What we re hoping for is this report will spur change in a positive direction, said Maria Alvarez, the executive director of the Statewide Senior Action Council.
