West Bengal: Army commences COVID-19 vaccination drive at Military Hospital of Panagarh ANI | Updated: Jan 18, 2021 04:04 IST
Panagarh (West Bengal) [India], January 17 (ANI): Indian Army along with Brahmastra Corps commenced the COVID vaccination drive on Sunday at the Military Hospital of Panagarh, West Bengal.
The health care workers were administered COVID vaccine in the first phase of immunisation drive as per the Central government guidelines. The front line workers will be vaccinated in the second phase, according to a press statement.
A total of 50 health care workers comprising medical, dental, and nursing officers, nursing assistants and other medical support staff were vaccinated on day one with Covishield vaccine.

Healthcare workers who took the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday are flooded with calls and messages from family and well-wishers who have been curiously enquiring about their health post the jab.
On the first day of the vaccination drive on Saturday, as many as 3,962 out of the 4,296 listed Healthcare Workers (HCW) across Telangana were given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Director of Public Health G. Srinivasa Rao said only 11 mild Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) cases were reported from across the State.

India began the largest vaccination drive in its history with over 2 lakh people vaccinated across the country in 3,350 sessions on the first day. Covishield manufactured at the Serum Institute of India was available in all States whereas only 12 States had vaccination sites where Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin was administered. In the first tranche of vaccines, there are 11 million doses of Covishield and 5.5 million of Covaxin that will be administered to healthcare workers, sanitation workers and municipal workers in the coming days. The first day of the vaccine programme, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, included ceremonial inoculations across the country.
