I am farming in the home place, and I starting building a family home on a site on the land. I just got the house up to roof level, but the windows or doors had not gone in yet, when Covid struck, and all construction ground to a halt.
Teenagers started coming onto the site, drinking alcohol late at night, and are still doing this. I thought it would stop once the restrictions lifted.

It’s good to talk, as the saying goes but when it comes to farm safety, simply sitting down and discussing the issue with other farmers can even potentially save lives, according to the latest research.
The nationwide joint study funded by Teagasc and the Health Safety Authority has shown that establishing discussion groups where farmers can discuss safety procedures with their peers, is significantly more effective than simply providing farmers with information on the topic.

Health & Safety Authority advises Louth farmers on safety for the silage cutting season

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is urging all farmers and contractors to carefully plan their work and complete their risk assessments as the busy silage season gets underway.
It comes as the latest data shows tractors, vehicles and farm machinery are the biggest cause of farm-related fatalities, accounting for over half of farm-related deaths from 2011 – 2020.
Over the past decade, 113 people, 18 of whom were children and young persons under the age of 18, have been killed in farming-related workplace incidents involving tractors, vehicles and machinery.
“We’re advising farmers to take time to plan for a safe silage season,” said Pat Griffin, Senior Inspector with the Health and Safety Authority.
