Carlow Nationalist — Consider moving under-35s up vaccine queue, prof says

Consider moving under-35s up vaccine queue, prof says Thursday, March 11, 2021 The value of moving those under the age of 35 up the priority list for Covid-19 vaccination in Ireland should be considered, according to an immunologist. Professor of immunovirology at University College Cork, Liam Fanning, said the move should be discussed as younger people are more likely to spread the virus. Those aged between 18 and 54 without underlying health conditions are currently the last group scheduled to be vaccinated in the State. “Most infections are currently in the under 45 [age group], so 16 to 35 [year olds]… covers Leaving Cert students, university students – those who are most active in society,” he said.
