COVID-19 cases declining in most of northwest Louisiana

The majority of parishes in Louisiana s Region 7 showed a decline in COVID-19 cases for a two-week period ending Sunday. But the virus remains an issue in Caddo Parish. The 14-day change in cases for Caddo was a 52% increase. It is the highest increase in the nine parishes of Region 7.Caddo Parish has 25,634 cases and 736 COVID-19 deaths.  Caddo, though, was one of only three Region 7 parishes to have an increase in the last two weeks. Claiborne Parish had the second-largest increase at 40%. The parish has 1,430 cases and 55 COVID-19 deaths. The increase in Webster Parish was just 2%. Webster has 4,069 cases and 111 deaths due to the virus.

COVID-19 cases in northwest Louisiana: Only 1 parish shows decline

Both Bossier Parish and Webster Parish had 167% increases in cases for the 14-day time period. Bossier Parish has 13,524 cases and 291 COVID-19 deaths. Webster Parish has 4,034 cases and 110 COVID-19 deaths. Natchitoches Parish had a 119% increase in cases for the two weeks ending Sunday. The parish has 4,005 cases and 85 deaths to COVID-19. The last parish at 100% or more increase is Bienvile Parish. The parish had 100% increase over the last 14 days. Bienville has 1,651 cases and 81 COVID-19 deaths. Meanwhile, Caddo Parish continues to show an incease in cases. However, the parish s increase was under 100% at 74%.  There have been 25,450 cases in Caddo Parish with 734 deaths due to the virus.

COVID-19 in Louisiana: Cases rising in Caddo, Bossier parishes

Despite more people being vaccinated, the number of COVID-19 cases is rising in Caddo and Bossier parishes. The number of COVID-19 cases in Bossier Parish over the last 14 days through Sunday rose a whopping 145%. Caddo Parish showed an increase of 42% over the last 14 days. Five of the nine parishes in northwest Louisiana s Region 7 showed an increase in the last 14 days. The increases come at a time when more than 17% of the population has completed the vaccination process. Region 7 ranks fourth among the state s eight regions for highest percentage of completed vaccines. Bossier Parish has 13,415 total cases as of Sunday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. The parish also has 290 COVID-19 deaths.
