Impunity Leads to New Genocides and Crimes Against Humanity, Says Yerevan

The Didzernagapert Armenian Genocide Monument in Yerevan Armenia will continue its efforts to actively contribute to the prevention of mass atrocities and genocide, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday on the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. In 2015, Armenia led the effort to dedicate December 9 as an international day for commemorations of the victims of genocide by the United Nations. “Armenia, as a nation which has survived the Genocide, has been an advocate for the fight against this crime on the international arena for many years, and is consistently working towards the prevention of the crime of genocide, raising awareness of the dangers of hate crimes and building legal and institutional capacities to respond to them,” the Foreign Ministry said.
