Another reason could be that everyone who wanted to be vaccinated is making appointments or has gotten vaccinated, he said, and now it s time for public health officials to focus on people in the middle, or people who are not against getting inoculated but haven t made an appointment yet.
Riverside County reported Friday that 46.1% (897,233) of residents ages 16 and older are partially or fully vaccinated, and 31.6% (616,018) of residents are fully vaccinated.
Statewide, 19.8% of Californians are partially vaccinated and 39.1% are fully vaccinated.
Daily doses administered also dropping
Alongside the drop in demand, the county has also seen a decrease in the number of vaccine doses administered daily. As of Monday, 18,000 COVID-19 doses were being given daily, Osur said. In early April, the county reached a peak of 21,000 doses administered a day.
No date has been set for the Palm Desert City Council to resume open meetings and City Hall continues in-person services by appointment only.
The city continues to provide services to the pubic digitally through email, phone and the city’s website.
“City Hall is open for limited in-person services by appointment only,” city spokesman Thomas Soule said. “The public is still encouraged to do business with us virtually whenever possible.”
City Hall has been closed except for digital service or appointments since mid-March 2020 under state and county guidelines to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The last full council meeting held in chambers and open to the public was on March 12, 2020.

Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Geoffrey Leung told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday morning that the new guidance was expected from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the state would also issue its own guidance. Moderna and Pfizer move closer to getting emergency approval for 12 to 15 year olds
Some health experts believe we could start seeing children between 12 and 15 years old getting vaccinated within weeks from now.
According to the UMass Medical School researchers, they began testing the Moderna vaccine on children 12 to 15 in February 2021.
Right now, 3,000 adolescents are enrolled in this trial and researchers are waiting for the data to return to then submit for emergency use authorization to the FDA.
One doctor at UMass Medical School in Worcester, Dr. Robert Finberg said so far the clinical trials have been very successful. He believes Moderna s emergency authorization could be just weeks away.
While current Tulare County COVID-19 metrics are still near record lows since the pandemic started in March 2020, there s evidence those metrics show signs of plateauing and even slightly increasing.
