Travis Walker has been hired as the new police chief of Santa Paula
SANTA PAULA, Calif. - The City of Santa Paula has hired a new police chief. Travis Walker will take over as the city s chief of police on Feb. 1.
Walker has several years of experience as a chief of police, but he brings with him some accusations of malfeasance.
Walker began his career with the San Bernardino Police Department where he worked a variety of assignments including patrol, narcotics, gangs and various detective and managerial roles throughout his nearly 20-year career. He also served as the Tactical Commander during the 2015 San Bernardino terror attack.
Arrest made in deadly Indio shooting Tuesday night
Police have arrested a suspect after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound in North Indio Tuesday night.
Officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Avenue 44 west of Market Street at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Inside the car, police say they found an unidentified man dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives later learned that the deceased occupant had been involved in a confrontation.
Police did not release futher details on what led up to the shooting.
Investigators were able to identify a suspect who was placed under arrest without incident. As part of station policy, we will not publish their identity until they are officially charged by the Riverside County District Attorney s Office.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA A Temecula man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a deadly crash on Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore remained jailed Wednesday in lieu of $1 million bail.
Nick Clinton Lewis, 55, was arrested early Jan. 9 in connection with the crash that killed 49-year-old Franciso DeLuna of Perris.
Just before midnight on Jan. 8., DeLuna was driving south on I-15 through Lake Elsinore in a 2020 Nissan Versa when he slowed due to a traffic break ahead of him. Lewis was behind him in a 2015 GMC Sierra and failed to see the slowdown. The Temecula man plowed into DeLuna s car, and the impact sent the Versa crashing into the center divider just north of Franklin Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CORONA, Calif. A crash involving a Corona police officer on Saturday afternoon led to the arrest of the other driver who took the officer’s patrol unit while holding a gun an incident that was captured on cellphone video by a passerby.
The crime occurred around 2 p.m. on the 91 Freeway in Riverside, according to the Corona Police Department.
The officer was traveling west in a “plain wrap” (no police markings but equipped with emergency lights and siren) Ford Explorer police unit when another driver rear-ended him, according to authorities.
After being struck from behind, the officer lost control and went into a spin, Corona Police Department said, KTLA reported.

The court date was pushed back today to March 4. The woman charged as an accessory to the murder is also set to return to the Larson Justice Center in Indio on March 4 for a trial-readiness conference.

An attorney for a former Riverside County sheriff s deputy accused of killing a man he viewed as a romantic rival in Coachella is expected to argue Monday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio that the murder charge filed against his client should be dismissed.
Oscar Rodriguez, 39, is accused in the Jan. 27, 2014, shooting death of Luis Carlos Morin outside the victim s family s home. Morin s ex-girlfriend, Diana Perez, 42, is charged with being an accessory.
