Queen s Birthday Honour for a Life in Aviation 14 June 2021
Well-known airline pilot and flying instructor Ken Broomhead has been awarded an Order of Australian Medal (OAM) for services to aviation in the Queen s Birthday honour s list published today.
Broomhead had a storied commercial career that took him from charter operations in PNG to the cockpit of an Ansett B747 and a Singapore B777. He has also contributed to aviation through the Australian Air Force Cadets, the Honourable Company of Air Pilots and the Royal Aeronautical Society and at one time headed CASA s flight training panel.

10,000 doses of the Australian manufactured AstraZeneca vaccines arrived into the country last night.
The ADF Royal Australian Air Force aircraft flew in the AstraZeneca vaccines, inclusive of humanitarian supplies yesterday.
These supplies included:
✔ 1,300kg of Australian-provided medical supplies (biohazard bags and pipettes), PPE (gloves, gowns and masks) ;
✔ 640kg of Fijian Government-procured medical supplies and PPE (biohazard bags, pipettes and gowns); and
✔ 30 tents provided by UNICEF Pacific for use as field clinics (if required).
