Trucking industry mourning the loss of road safety advocate

The ATA and trucking community are deeply saddened by the loss of Jim, who was an outspoken and outstanding contributor to our industry, Australian Trucking Association chair David Smith said. Former ATA chair Denis Robertson said Mr Pearson was a tremendous contributor to the industry and was highly regarded for his integrity and professionalism. Jim was a person who was committed to keeping people safe. He was willing to be the first to put up his hand when help was needed and was one of the first supporters of the ATA Safety Trailer, Mr Robertson said.

ATA and University of Newcastle to lead road safety research

Date Time ATA and University of Newcastle to lead road safety research The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and the University of Newcastle, Australia, have signed a research partnership that could save lives throughout the world. To be led by the University of Newcastle School of Psychology, the research will take a deep dive into the effectiveness of the ATA’s SafeT360 education initiative and shine a light on how best to communicate safety messages to young road users. ATA Safety, Health and Wellbeing Director Melissa Weller said there was a worldwide lack of good quality research into road safety communication and behavioural change projects.
