In a tragic development, a veteran skydiver plunged to his death after his parachute malfunctioned during a skydiving competition.
30-year-old Dimitri Didenko was performing a solo wingsuit jump at Jurien Bay in Perth, Australia, at 1.30 pm yesterday during the Virtual Nationals Skydiving Competition when the tragic accident happened.
Reports indicate that Didenko was âvery experiencedâ and was performing a âhigh levelâ jump, when his parachute failed to open correctly just after he jumped off the helicopter resulting in the fatal mishap.
After he fell, the emergency crews immediately rushed to help him but it was too late as he died at the scene.

A renowned skydiver who died in an accident at a popular West Australian tourist spot on Sunday has been remembered by heartbroken friends as an absolute legend .
Dimitri Didenko was competing in the Virtual Nationals Skydiving Championships with friends in the coastal town of Jurien Bay, north of Perth, just after 1pm on Sunday when the tragedy happened.
Police believe the 30-year-old s parachute failed to deploy correctly, sending him plunging to the ground as around 20 close friends watched in horror.
