Richard Wankmuller to retire as ARTC Inland Rail CEO
After three years at the helm, Mr Richard Wankmuller will be retiring mid this year as Chief Executive Officer of Inland Rail at the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC).
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack thanked Mr Wankmuller for his contribution to the delivery of Inland Rail.
“I want to thank Richard Wankmuller for his leadership of the Inland Rail program and recognise the valued contribution he has made to this nationally significant infrastructure project,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“Under his stewardship the project has moved from early design through to construction, delivering significant local benefits in regional Australia at a time when we need it most.

Southside Brisbane roads will be clogged with extra B-double trucks under the current route for Inland Rail, a Senate inquiry has been told.
Former Howard government minister Gary Hardgrave, who chairs a community consultation committee for Inland Rail, said there would be a tripling of trucks in Acacia Ridge, where the planned line would terminate, by 2050.
The $14.5 billion Inland Rail project began with a âsod turnâ at Parkes, NSW, in December 2018.
âIt will be devastating for southside Brisbane if the plan is just to terminate it all at Acacia Ridge because itâll just put more and more trucks on local roads, which theyâre not designed for,â Mr Hardgrave, the former federal Liberal member for Moreton, said.
