Tim Minchin s Back is back : News 2021 : Chortle : The UK Comedy Guide

New tour dates for 2021 Tim Minchin is to tour the UK again this autumn. The comic and musician has announced 21 dates, kicking off at the Birmingham Hippodrome on October 23. He will be performing Back, the show he first brought to the UK in 2019, when it was his first tour in eight years. It is subtitled ‘Old Songs, New Songs, F You Songs’ and features both comic tracks and his more emotional ones. In November, Minchin released his first studio solo album Apart Together, and fans who brought a copy from his official store will be offered tickets to his Back tour from 10am on Wednesday.

Comic Maddy Anholt writes a book about abusive relationships Stand-up Maddy Anholt has signed a deal to write her first book, based on her experience of abusive relationships. The title, How To Leave Your Psychopath is due to be published by Pan Macmillan imprint Bluebird in  February next year. The publisher describes it as ‘a candid and darkly entertaining insight into the bizarre and frightening world of coercive control and abusive relationships from a woman who, until her eyes were opened, had spent her entire dating life trapped in them’. Anholt, who has performed four solo Edinburgh shows, said:  ‘An extraordinary number of people are utterly trapped in controlling and coercive relationships.

Comics highlight women s history in Museum Of London videos The Museum of London has recruited five comedians to make a series of videos about the role of women in the capital’s history. Samantha Baines, Jenny Bede, Jen Ives, Thanyia Moore and Leila Navabi have each created a short piece inspired by a different item in the museum’s collections. Moore is first with a monologue about female bus conductors, released today to coincide with International Women’s Day. She was inspired by a photograph from the mid-1970s – the first time London Transport officially employed women as bus drivers.
