M5 long delays as it re-opens southbound after fatal overnight collision
The M5 has partially re-opened
southbound between junction 24 at Bridgwater and junction 25 for Taunton after being fully closed for seven hours this morning (Saturday) folliwing a crash in which one person sadly died.
Two lanes re-opened shortly after 11am, but there are long delays of up to ten miles on the approach stretching back to Burnham-On-Sea’s junction 22.
A statement from Avon and Somerset Police says: “Police were called just after 4am on Saturday 26th June to a single-vehicle collision on the M5 southbound.”
“It happened between junctions 24 for Bridgwater and 25 for Taunton. Sadly the passenger of a black Audi died at the scene.”

The M5 has been closed southbound between Bridgwater and Taunton due to a serious crash overnight.
One person has died and another - who was also arrested at the scene - taken to hospital.
Police are in attendance and have said the M5 is not expected to re-open until midday.
Inrix has reported queues of seven miles and states: M5 Southbound closed, queueing traffic for seven miles due to accident investigation work from J24 A38 Taunton Road (Bridgwater South) to J25 A358 (Taunton).
