Storm damages San Antonio s shelter for women and children, but they re safe

San Antonio’s Battered Women’s and Children’s Shelter experienced structural damage this week because of the winter storm, but its more than 160 domestic violence survivors are safe.
“The good news is that our guests, our women and children, are not affected,” said Marta Prada Peláez, CEO of Family Violence Prevention Services, which operates the second-largest emergency shelter in Texas.
