US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Rome on Sunday for a three-day visit during which he will participate in the foreign ministers G20 in Matera scheduled for Tuesday.
The US secretary of state met with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, and Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid – who is also the alternate prime minister.
“We began to outline the central points that we will deal with during [Monday’s] anti-Daesh ministerial meeting,” said Di Maio during a meeting with Blinken.
The meeting, organised for the first time in Italy and co-chaired by Italy and the US, will “focus on the fight against terrorism, which is essential for stopping attacks and irregular immigration”, Di Maio added.
