Amaravati, Dec 17 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan have hailed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists for successfully launching PSLV C-50 rocket on Thursday. Kudos to the team of scientists and engineers at ISRO on the successful launch of PSLV C-50 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, said Reddy.
He said the launch is another milestone and many more to go for ISRO, wishing success in all future endeavours.
India launches PSLV rocket with CMS-01 communications satellite

The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, has launched their second mission of 2020 using their workhorse rocket: the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, or PSLV.
The mission carried the CMS-01 replacement communications satellite to orbit on Thursday, 17 December at 10:11 UTC, or 05:11 EST. The launch occurred locally at 15:41 IST (Indian Standard Time) from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on India’s east coast.
As with the previous flight in November, the PSLV rocket launched a single primary passenger: the CMS-01 communications satellite, previously named GSAT-12R.
The mission marked the 52nd flight of the PSLV rocket, which took CMS-01 into a Geostationary Transfer Orbit, or GTO.

Eighth convocation held via videoconference
The Space Commission has approved a proposal to declare the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Valiamala, as an Institute of National Importance akin to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), K. Sivan, chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has said.
The proposal will be forwarded to the Cabinet shortly, Mr. Sivan, who is also secretary, Space Commission, said. He was addressing the eighth convocation of IIST via videoconference on Wednesday.
