Central government earns around Rs 32.98 per litre of the price of petrol, according to prices in Delhi. Sales tax and VAT of the state government constitutes around Rs 20 per litre price of petrol in the capital city.
The central excise for diesel comes to Rs 31.83 and VAT to Rs 10.99. In addition to all the taxes, the retail price of fuel also includes a dealer commission of a minimum Rs 2.6 per litre on petrol and Rs 2 on diesel.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE have given India the assurance of steady commercial supply of liquid medical oxygen with the logistics to be handled by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and GAIL (India) Ltd, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted on Friday.
Pradhan said he had close consultations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, the UAE & Qatar last week to increase the import of medical oxygen into India. “I received their wholesome support for ensuring commercial supply of LMO to India, especially at a time when India is battling the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Public Sector oil and gas sector companies Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, ONGC, and GAIL on Thursday signed MoUs with Badrinath Utthan Charitable Trust to contribute ₹99.6 crore in the first phase of construction and redevelopment of Badrinath Dham as a spiritual smart hill town.
The developmental activities will include river embankment work, building all-terrain vehicular path, building bridges, beautifying existing bridges, establishing gurukul facilities with accommodation, creating toilet and drinking water facilities, installing streetlights, and mural paintings, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a statement.
Petrol, diesel prices hiked as elections end

The prices of petrol and diesel have gone up once again as soon as the elections ended. State-owned oil marketing companies increased the price of petrol as well as diesel on Tuesday. This was done after the results were declared for the assembly elections in Puducherry, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu on Sunday. This is for the first time since February 23 that the fuel prices have been increased.
The price 0f petrol has been increased by 15 paise so now it sits at Rs. 90.55 per litre whereas the price of diesel has been increased by 18 paise so it sits at Rs. 80.91 per litre. These prices are in Delhi on Tuesday at an Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s outlets. It is being expected that the fuel prices will go up gradually from here on.
