ISLAMABAD: Eight human rights bodies in their joint statement have called upon the European Union leaders to raise the issue of fast deteriorating human rights situation in India during their scheduled summit with the Indian leaders on May 8 in Portugal.
“The European leaders should press the Indian government to reverse its abusive and discriminatory policies and immediately release all human rights defenders and other critics who have been jailed for peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly,” an umbrella of eight human rights bodies said in a press statement released by the Human Rights Watch.

Pakistan on Wednesday urged the United Nations, WHO and ICRC to take cognizance of the deteriorating medical supplies for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and set up an International Humanitarian Medical Corridor to help provide medical support to the Kashmiri people.
The urge was made by the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir which held its special session to urge the world to set up an international medical corridor to provide medical support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Chairing the meeting, Chairman of Kashmir Committee Shehryar Khan Afridi presented a detailed report on the deteriorating medical system in mainland India and especially in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and called upon the world community to intervene on humanitarian grounds.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Expressing deep concern over the COVID-19 situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has offered to send a consignment of medical supplies to the conflict-stricken region
to deal with the pandemic.
“AJK ready to send a consignment of medicines, vents, oxygen, sanitizers, masks & PPEs (Personal Protective Equipments) to help Kashmiris fight Coronavirus,” the AJK President Masood Khan said.
Masood Khan said that the consignment can be delivered by the AJK Red Crescent.
The AJK president said that the COVID-19 pandemic has spiked in the IIOJK with over 200,000 infections and more than 2,500 deaths. He said that every day more than 3500 new Coronavirus Cases are being reported and the latest daily cited fatalities have been more than 50.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Government and the people of Pakistan have expressed deep grief over the demise of senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Ashraf Sehrai in Indian custody.
The Foreign Office, in a statement, said the senior Kashmiri leader was arrested last year on trumped up charges under the draconian Public Safety Act in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The statement said Ashraf Sehrai remained incarcerated in Indian jail under squalid conditions despite serious deterioration of his health and the prevailing COVID-19 crisis.
