RAJKOT: More than 10 persons have been booked and one of them has also been arrested on charges of pelting stones on police vehicles ferrying two arrested bootleggers in Navdurgapara of Mota Mava Gam locality in Rajkot on Wednesday night.
Police said they had detained bootleggers duo Siddharth Vaghela and his brother Dharmadeep Vaghela and also seized 27 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 12,000.
“While we were taking the accused to the police station, a mob of around dozen-odd people, mostly consisting of the family members of the accused, waylaid our two vehicles an official vehicle of the police and a private vehicle and started pelting stones, said A B Jadeja, sub-inspector with University police station.

RAJKOT: Acting on a tip off, local crime branch (LCB) of Amreli district carried out a raid in liquor party at the Customs’ guest house number one in Pipavav Port Colony and nabbed three officials.
According to police, Nilesh Joshi (50), Bhagvan Meena (54), and Kirupanand Guriwan (53) all three officials of superintendent rank in the customs department were arrested. Cops also recovered Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), beer and other valuables all worth Rs 17,800 from the spot. The three officials who were staying in the guest house in Pipavav Port have been booked under various sections of Prohibition Act.
“We had specific information that Nilesh Joshi, who is living in Guest house s room number one, was bringing the IMFL and inviting other people to party. We carried out the raid on Monday and nabbed them from the spot,” a police officer said.

Rajkot: A total of 12,860 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 46.20 lakh were seized and three persons arrested in three different raids conducted in Thangadh and Limbdi of Surendranagar district, and in Kutiyana taluka of Porbandar district on Sunday night.
On Tarnetar Road in Thangadh, the share of IMFL bottles was being divided in a farm when the cops raided the spot. They seized 6,624 IMFL bottles worth Rs 27.79 lakh, three SUVs and one truck. The cops arrested the farm owner, Dilip Kathi, and his staffer Jema Khamani.
“During interrogation, Kathi said that the liquor consignment had come from Rajasthan. There were six bootleggers who fled from the spot before the raid,” said V R Jadeja, sub-inspector with Thangadh police station.
