India, Japan to hold 2+2 talks amid China s aggressive moves WION 3 hours ago © Provided by WION India and Japan are planning to hold a 2+2 format meeting of foreign and defence ministers in Tokyo later this month, Japanese media reported.   According to NHK, Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu and Defence Minister Kishi Nobuo are due to attend the meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.  This will the second such meeting between the two countries as the inaugural meeting of the India-Japan Foreign and Defence Ministerial Dialogue (2+2) was held on November 30, 2019, in New Delhi. 

BIMSTEC to be held mid-August in Colombo

BIMSTEC to be held mid-August in Colombo Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.) Sri Lanka is planning to host the BIMSTEC Heads of Government Summit in mid-August, with dates still to be finalized, Government sources said. This will be the fifth summit of the grouping after the 2018 session which took place in Kathmandu. Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) has seven members - India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Formed in 1997, the grouping is more than 20 years old. While the authorities are hoping to conduct the summit offline, the final decision will be taken considering the coronavirus pandemic. Sri Lanka, as the chair of the grouping this year, is eyeing a physical summit.
