Monroe County Council President Eric Spoonmore will not seek re-election once his term ends at the end of next year, and colleagues said they will miss his level-headed leadership.
Spoonmore, who was named to the council by caucus in 2015 and won re-election in 2018, said he wants to spend more time with his family and enable others to serve in public office.
Spoonmore and his wife, Lindsey, live in Bloomington and have a 9-year-old daughter who is heavily involved in gymnastics and won a state championship last year.
“I just want to make sure I’m not missing out on too many life events,” Spoonmore told The Herald-Times on Monday.
