New Delhi: On the day budget is to be presented in the Parliament, a landmark change will take place as the food served to the Members of Parliament on that day would not be served by the Northern Railways, something that has not happened in nearly 52 years.
During the presentation on the
Union Budget on February 1, the India Tourism Development Corporation will serve food to the parliamentarians. The food will be cooked by expert chefs of the five-star Ashok Hotel for the MPs, as per a report published by the IANS.

New Delhi, Jan 27 : Taking over the reins of the parliament canteen and ending the 52-year legacy of Northern Railways, the ITDC will serve food cooked by expert chefs of the five-star Ashok Hotel to the MPs and others from the upcoming Budget Session.
The vegetarian platter one enjoys in Ashok Hotel will be manifold cheaper in the Parliament canteen. The cost will be Rs 100 for “kadai paneer, mix veg dry, bhaji, dal sultani, peas pulao, chapati, green salad, cucumber mint raita, papad and kala jamun.”

No more free lunches for Parliamentarians and other staff members as the Parliament has done away with subsidised meals. In the newly announced Parliament canteen price list, the cheapest item on this menu is chapatti that will now cost Rs 3. Some of the costliest items on the menu are veg buffet at Rs 500 and non-veg buffet at Rs 700. This price list will come into effect from the beginning of the Budget session on January 29.

NEW DELHI: The Parliament canteen has ended the subsidy on food sold there. The revised rates will come into effect starting January 29 when the Budget Session begins.
The updated prices will be at par with the market rates. As per the new rates, a roti will cost Rs 3, a vegetarian meal Rs 100, and a non-vegetarian lunch buffet Rs 700. The Mutton Biryani will now cost Rs 150 and boiled vegetables have been priced at Rs 50.
