Experts have criticised the approval for Covaxin, saying that it was given without adequate data. The All India Drugs Action Network (AIDAN) activist group said it was “perplexed” at the abrupt change in the SEC’s thinking. “Over the course of meetings over the days, the hesitation of the SEC in granting REU (restricted emergency use) approval in the absence of any efficacy data has been documented,” it said in a statement.
