Invercargill Licensing Trust chief executive Chris Ramsay talks about progress in the construction of The Langlands Hotel and the ILT thinking about opening a new bar closeby. “We are keen to be involved there,” Ramsay said. “We’re [ILT] in a growth phase . we’re always looking to the future and what we can do for the community.” On Tuesday, Ramsay and Dennis met with bosses of Christchurch company, Leighs Construction, for an update on the progress of building The Langlands Hotel, which is costing the ILT $40 million. Live music and Santa will kick-start the festive season in Invercargill on Saturday with a Christmas in the Park show to be held at Queens Park. Organiser Blair Savory says the free event, at the band rotunda, will feature the cream-of-the-crop of Invercargill bands, with the aim to create a “Christmas vibe” in the city. Savory, a director of sound and lighting company Massav Productions which is putting on Christmas in the Park for the second year, said he wanted to help make Invercargill a more vibrant place and get people out and about through events.
