Keyano Receives $25K Grant To Support Mental Health Services

By Jaryn Vecchio Keyano College is getting a $25,000 grant to help support mental health services. The post-secondary school announced on Monday they’re receiving the funds from the Bell Let’s Talk initiative. “At a time when the stresses of being a student have increased tremendously, mental well-being is more important than ever,” said Dr. Sandra Efu, Director of Student Services. “This grant will help ensure that we not only recognize the pressures students face but have funds to be able to combat them.” The funds are being planned to help with a program aimed at helping students learn more about the supports available at Keyano, create videos to support these services, as well as mental health first aid training workshops for employees.

The province announced on Monday there were three additional deaths from the virus across Alberta – one of which lived in the community. The individual was a woman in her 70s and included comorbidities, however, not much else is known due to patient confidentiality. This is the fourth death related to COVID-19 in Fort McMurray and the RMWB, according to the province. In total, there have been 2,043 deaths across Alberta. Meanwhile, there were 1,391 new cases in the province over the past 24 hours.
