The teenager allegedly crashed a stolen car on a major highway and fled the scene by jumping into a 69-year-old woman s car and threatening her with a weapon. Police will allege that the 18-year-old Oakey man was driving a stolen white sedan when it was noticed by police in Haig St, Ipswich, about 10.30am Tuesday. The car was being tracked by Polair and police vehicles when it crashed into another car on the Warrego Highway westbound at Helidon Spa about 11.20am.

Subscriber only A TEEN has been charged after allegedly sparking a dramatic chase in a stolen vehicle, before crashing and forcing the driver of a passing car to help him flee the scene. A stolen vehicle was first spotted on Haig St Ipswich about 10.30am Tuesday, before heading onto the Warrego Highway. Police allege the vehicle had been stolen from a Raceview address about 7.10am Tuesday. Polair followed the white sedan as it headed west on the highway, relaying information to crews on the ground as the vehicle travelled through the Lockyer Valley. Police said the vehicle travelled onto the Warrego Highway heading west before crashing into a vehicle at Helidon Spa about 11.20am.

The woman, former Ipswich State High girls rugby union player Baeley Yuile, 22, is charged over a serious assault in which police allege a baseball bat was used. Police say they will rely on Snap Chat messages for evidence in the case. Baeley Rose Kirsty Yuile, 22, from Crestmead, appeared from the police watch-house via video-link before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday to apply for bail. She faces charges including entering a dwelling at night with intent/in company on December 19 at Raceview; and two counts of committing assaults causing bodily harm when armed/in company.
