Dubai: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has strongly denied social media rumours about stopping vehicles with more than one person on board and asking for civil/ID cards to prove that the accompanying persons are from the same family, local media reported. The ROP statement came many twitter users shared some messages attributed to Major Mohammed Al Hashmi from ROP’s Directorate of Communications about the new instructions. However, ROP said no such directives have been issued. “The ROP draws attention to the inaccuracy of this information attributed to Major Mohammad Al Hashmi. There are no directives to stop vehicles with more than one person and asking them to show ID cards to prove that they are from the same family,” ROP said in the statement.
