Hong Kong: There is abundant evidence, from online social media releases of the People s Liberation Army (PLA) and state-controlled media, that the Chinese military has intensified efforts to modernize ground units in the Xinjiang Military District.
The Xinjiang Military District is one part of the Western Theater Command. The latter boasts some 90,000-120,000 ground troops, principally divided into the 76th and 77th Group Armies (headquartered in the interior cities of Chongqing and Baoji respectively), according to research by the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University in the USA.

+ May 05, 2021 SIX members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered Tuesday, May 4, due to the continued military offensive against them in Maguindanao, the military announced Wednesday, May 5.
Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the six BIFF members surrendered through the efforts of the units under the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

“Today, 11 members of the League have been arrested in Zambales, and at least 14 in Cebu,” the group said in a statement on Saturday.
Eleven members of the LFS were arrested for allegedly breaking social distancing protocols in Castillejos town, Zambales.
The individuals were intercepted at a checkpoint in Barangay Del Pilar after failing to provide “authorized documents for travel” and “identification documents,” according to the Philippine Army 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion.
Meanwhile, according to the National Union of Students of the Philippines, at least 14 individuals were arrested in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu for violating social distancing protocols during the Mayo Uno protest.
