WORCESTERSHIRE is among dozens of councils without a policy for prosecuting Blue Badge parking abuse. Charity Disability Rights UK said it is shocking that nearly a third of councils are not taking any measures to stop abuse of the scheme. Councils issue Blue Badges to people with disabilities to allow them to park closer to their destination. However, a spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: “We work closely with each district council in Worcestershire, their civil enforcement teams and our police colleagues where necessary to ensure that any misuse of blue badges is dealt with appropriately across the county. We take individual complaints of misuse extremely seriously, with misuse of a Blue Badge being a criminal offence. When a new blue badge is awarded, a booklet is issued to the badge holder outlining its correct use.
