The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 142 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total infection count for the region nearer to 10,000.
To date, 9,815 local residents have tested positive for the virus in a population of roughly 400,000.

There are currently 2,728 active cases of COVID-19 in the region, with 99 in hospital and 17 of them in ICU.
No additional COVID-19 deaths were reported on Monday, though the deaths of eight people were announced over the weekend.

The COVID-19 crisis in Windsor-Essex has hit yet another tragic milestone Friday as health officials announced that the death toll has surpassed 200.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) reported 12 new deaths on Friday, 10 of which took place at the region s hard-hit long-term care and retirement homes. We know that every one of these people have families and friends that are mourning for them and my thoughts are with you, said WECHU CEO and Chief Nursing Officer Theresa Marentette.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported an additional 199 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the region’s infection count above 9,000.
It took only five days for the region to gain its most recent 1,000 cases, with a total of 9,045 people testing positive since the pandemic began.

Before that, it took six days for the region to move from 6,000 cases to 7,000, and six more days after that to reach 8,000.
The health unit also reported the deaths of three more people on Thursday. A woman in her 60s and a woman in her 80s who lived in long-term care homes, as well as a man in his 90s who lived in the general community, have lost their lives to COVID-19.
