Tim Finnerty, 64, is an Army veteran who was introduced to martial arts during his service in Korea in 1967. He has continued to study for the past 43 years and shares his knowledge about Tai Chi and Qi Gong with an informal group of staff and clients of the VA Hospital in Providence. “It’s a holistic system of coordinated body posture, movement, breathing and meditation,” Finnerty says.
Pre-COVID, Tim would convene a group of about a dozen staff and medical center clients on the lawn of the hospital on Friday mornings to learn these Eastern practices that channel energy and movement to improve health and wellness.
