A local mother stood outside Buffalo City Hall on Wednesday afternoon and said she will continue to fight for justice for her daughter, 20-year-old Amanda Wienckowski. Surrounded by family and community activists she said, It s sad that it has to come to this. I just beg everyone to help me. Wienckowski was found dead on Buffalo s East Side. Her nude body had been stuffed into a garbage tote outside a church.

How Can Buffalo Police Detect If Someone Is Driving While High? Every since adult recreational marijuana has been legal in New York State there has been a lot of questions. One of them. especially for non-smokers, is how will the roads be affected by people driving under the influence of marijuana. We all know that the traditional rolled joint or blunt (cigar with marijuana instead of tobacco) can be detected by police but there are some other devices and ways of consuming weed that is not detectible. According to WGRZ, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn wants officers to be trained to detect if someone high. I personally think this is a problem waiting to happen, I m not sure how extensive the training will be, or how it can be done because I know some extremely high functioning people while they are high. The training for this is going to be very expensive, officers will have to go away for four or five days. Police departments will need additional funding to train officers

Buffalo man indicted for allegedly shooting man on two separate occasions

Updated: 8:59 PM EDT April 26, 2021 BUFFALO, N.Y. A 26-year-old Buffalo man was virtually arraigned Monday for allegedly shooting the same man on two different occasions.  The Erie County District Attorney s Office says Shyheim Rodriguez, also known as “Hugo,” was indicted on two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. All are felony charges. According to Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, Rodriguez allegedly shot a man in the hand on December 8, 2020 at the victim s apartment on Kenmore Avenue, with the intent to cause his death.  

Erie County DA re-examining all pending marijuana cases

File Photo Erie County District Attorney John Flynn has announced that his office will re-examine all pending cases that involve criminal possession of marijuana. Recent legislation passed by state lawmakers and signed by the governor now allows adults in New York to possess up to 3 oz. of marijuana for personal use. Flynn said prosecutors will review cases based on the weight of marijuana the defendant allegedly possessed at the time of arrest, and criminal charges will be reduced, refiled or dismissed at the defendant s next court appearance. The DA said defense counsel is not required to file a motion for dismissal. Meanwhile, low-level cannabis convictions will be vacated.
